Hi Teacher!
We know how it is. You want your students to succeed. You want them to enjoy your subject the way that you do. And you want to see them engaged.
At Phenomena, we believe that engagement is the first step to STEM success. Phenomena experiences are approachable and fun, catering to even the most reluctant learners. We aim to present concepts intuitively so they are accessible to all students.
Phenomena is here to help. We make it easy to engage every student and give them the chance at success they deserve.
Sincerely,
the Phenomena Team
Here are a handful of ways that teachers use Phenomena Experiences in their classroom:
As a “do now” at the start of class
As a front-of-class demonstration
As the intro to a Socratic discussion
As a virtual / remote lab experience
As an alternative to a textbook assignment
As an extra credit option
We’d love to hear from you. Send us a note and let us know what your Phenomena experience is like.
The Pythagorean Theorem II
Now that they are familiar with Pythagorean Theorem, this experience shows students how to manipulate the Pythagorean Theorem to find the length of either leg of a right triangle.
The Pythagorean Theorem
This experience will show students how to read the free-body diagrams that can be drawn on a half Atwood machine, provide a deeper understanding of Newton’s Second Law, and show how to calculate net force and tension.
Reference and Coterminal Angles
Learn the difference between reference and coterminal angles as well as positive and negative angles.
Solving Equations with Addition and Subtraction (2/4)
Students will use addition and subtraction to solve simple algebraic equations, using a hands-on, interactive tool to help them visualize it.
Principles of Equations (1/4)
A first lesson in algebraic equations, this experience will show students what an equality is and how they can manipulate them using addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Graphing Systems of Equations
After completing this experience, students will be able to graph two linear equations, find their intersection, and will understand that this intersection is the solution to the system of equations.
Exploring One-Step Equations
Students will combine their knowledge of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division to solve all kinds of one-step equations.
Distance vs. Displacement
In this experience, students will play with animals’ motion in order to better understand what distance and displacement are, and the difference between them.
Rates and Unit Conversions
Price per apple, unit conversions, and more! In this experience, students will better understand rates, fraction multiplication, and how units cancel.
Simple Variables (Algebra)
If you’re new to Algebra, you’re probably wondering about the letters in the equations. Those are variables. They’re like magic numbers that could be any number. Play with them here and see how they work.
Intro to Integrals (Calculus)
What exactly is an integral? In simple terms, it’s just the area of a graph. In this experience, you’ll explore integrals of simple functions and graphs you draw yourself. And now you know Calculus!
Drawing Derivatives (Calculus)
Tackle our scariest topic yet -- derivatives in calculus! Understand this infamously difficult topic with ease. This simple drawing game will have you conquering calculus in no time. Enter, if you dare! #derivatives #calculus #math #spookyscary #halloween #drawing #mathgame
Intro to Functions (Algebra)
Become a fan of functions with Intro to Functions! Learn how functions operate on inputs and produce outputs. Start by making your own function and then play with numbers to solve a handful of function puzzles. Visualize this important concept in a fun new way!
Slope Intercept (Algebra)
Face a famous formula head-on in Phenomena’s new Slope Intercept experience! Manipulate slope and Y intercept in real time to complete fun challenges. Mountains will be climbed, turtles will be saved… and equations will be linear.
